Do you want to practice a conversation and then apply the lessons of a successful dialogue to your own conversation? Then join us for a free 30-minute Coffee Conversation. They happen about every three weeks.

Register now to receive invitations or call Tim at 1-800 822 0917

The agenda for each session is:

  • 00:00:00 - We recap the basics of a Courageous Conversation, introduce the conversation topic and divide up the roles (Initiator, Receiver, Chooser, Observer).

  • 00:10:00 - The two participants who volunteered to be the Initiator and Receiver practice the real-life conversation. The Chooser offers options. The Observers take notes.

  • 00:20:00 - We debrief the conversation and draw out the lessons to apply to our own conversations.

  • 00:30:00 - Call ends.

A few days later, a podcast of the recorded conversation is posted along with the downloadable Lessons Learned as a PDF to use in your own conversations.

Here is a recent reaction to participating in Coffee Conversations:
  • Tim, I had to dash away right after the call yesterday and couldn't send an email. This was my first call. I was fascinated.
  • I learned about www.freeconference.com - and just now studied their home page. Even if 20 people join, I would only pay $2.00 a minute for premium including free recording.
  • I learned a great structure for role play - two players, a "chooser" (neat idea) and observers.
  • I saw great courage in action - you were willing to do "improv" and play a very hard role.
  • I noticed you started the debrief with "What worked well." That's smart. People can always find the flaws.
  • Your set up was tremendous - telling us to jot down phrases we heard because people want to know those phrases - and you promised to put them on the web later.
  • I saw how much could be done in 30 short minutes. You did a fine job juggling all the roles, keeping the time, summarizing.
  • Amazing!

  • "Tim Mulvaney has been an incredible resource"
"I know I've mentioned this in this past but wanted to reiterate once again more formally. Tim Mulvaney has been an incredible resource to the Affinity Groups. He has really ignited our initiative and he has been instrumental with helping us put together an action plan, implement it, and ensure there is a coordinated effort amongst the groups. He continuously prods us and gets on all of our busy calendars to make sure we keep moving forward. He does all of this with constant enthusiasm and a can-do attitude." Affinity Group Leader, Director, Financial Services Provider
  • "What Courageous Conversations did for me"
I attended two of the Courageous Conversations seminars recently. Your seminars provided me with balance and the tools I needed to realize a career decision. I just wanted to thank you and to let you know this. Your seminars really helped me to think this decision through and weigh all of the possiblities. They also gave me a fundamental insight into the fact that I can engage in a courageous conversation not only with others but with myself. Thank you for helping me to muster the courage to change an unworkable situation and the courage to explore new challenges. University Employee
